Based upon the swf Flash uploader from DHTMLX .COM. File Manager Lyte helps one with the implementation of a modern and feature-rich file uploading. Que up multiple files and monitor upload progress via the progress bar. Different file types are displayed with the corresponding icons (you may add more file types when required).

Built with AJAX technology, the control allows files to be uploaded seamlessly without reloading the entire webpage.

After researching several uploaders I settled upon dhtmlxVault because it simply worked. Uber Uploader presents an upload progress bar but fails where Mod Security is employed. Other Flash swf based uploaders were so techie-geeky convoluted with ‘read forever’ forumns where the common question was; “Does anybody have a working version of this?”. This package will allow one to simply upload one tidy and compact folder, fill in four config variables; VOILA!

File management capabilities include Rename and Delete.

Give it a try and let me know what you think? Feel free to suggest code improvements. Demo»

One of my favorite blogs had this new post, author Richard Heyes discusses PHP being used as backend for a scaleable marketing endevor. Richard says:

I recently read an interesting example at Neil Shearing’s internet marketing strategies blog of combining .NET desktop software with a PHP backend.

We all know PHP is often slated by “real programmers” as a scripting language only useful for kiddie’s home pages, and its nice to see a serious marketer choosing PHP to power the backend to a serious piece of viral software with the potential to go load-mad.
